A Letter to a Future ߲ݴýdent: Robyn MacCara, Oromocto, NB

Hey Future߲ݴýdent!

My name is Robyn MacCara and I’m a proud first-year ߲ݴýdent!

I’m originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, but I’ve been living in Oromocto, New Brunswick for years now. I already felt lucky enough to have two places to call home, but St. Thomas University became the third.

Making the Decision

I chose ߲ݴý because of its welcoming environment. When I was in high school, I took part in the UniversityNow! dual-credit program and was able to take a class at ߲ݴý. I quickly learned everyone on campus is friendly, which makes the transition to university life easier. Additionally, there were countless resources on campus to provide extra support—the Learning Strategist, Academic Advising, Mental Health Support, and Student Accessibility Services to name a few.

Academics and Classes

The classes at St. Thomas go beyond any expectations I had. The classes are all capped at 60 students and the average class size is 26. This allows for me to make meaningful connections with my professors, who are all enthusiastic about what they teach. I’m comfortable with my professors and I don’t hesitate to utilize their office hours or say “hi” when we cross paths on campus.

What ߲ݴý has Done for Me

I recently finished my first semester at ߲ݴý, and I already feel so different—in the best way possible! What I’ve come to learn is that my degree represents so much more than the academic knowledge I’ve acquired; it’s proof of all the transferable skills I’m gaining. ߲ݴý has helped shaped me into a person with clear and concise writing, creative thinking, and time management skills.

St. Thomas University is a place of inclusion, development, and excitement. Here, I’ve met professors that challenge me and friends that will last a lifetime. If you come to adore ߲ݴý as much as I do, and I think you will, then choosing this university will be one of the greatest decisions you will make.

Warmly,
